Everyone shopping at the markets is busy collecting those vegetables. You will be surprised at its variety. Eating the local vegetable will bring you an enjoyable time to sense the season.
Located near the gateway of asaichi-dori (Farmers’ Morning Market street),” in the town- center in Gojome, Fukurokuju, in an exotic red brick building is a sake brewery run since Edo period. The spring water they use is so superior that people visit even just to purchase it. They make various kinds of sake at different rank in its quality labeled as Ippakusuisei, Fukurokuju, Jugodai-Hikobei and some others, and you can find one that perfectly matches to your occasion from gift use and daily use. Their warehouses (an upper-house and under-house) and office-home building are registered as Japanese Tangible Important Property in 1996 and they are worth look.

Flourished as a town of merchants, there were also many craftsmen living in Gojome-machi. Many craftsmen who have carried on the traditional skills still reside in the area and devote themselves for traditional crafting works. Onyashi (bow arrow makers), kajiya (blacksmiths), and sashimono-gyo (joiners)… Although its population is getting less compared to its peak time, the skills have been alive.
If you are looking for local specialties such as mountain vegetables, local vegetables, sweets and crafts, Michi-no-eki is an ideal place to visit. You will find fresh vegetables and even raspberry ice cream sold only in Gojome. A restaurant and rest house are also located in the area next door and there is also a walking path behind the building. It is a good place to have a rest during shopping.
